Carsten Grotzinger,
Group Leader/Head
Dr Carsten Grötzinger is a group leader at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He graduated from Humboldt University in Berlin with a Diploma in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. After his PhD work on Coronavirus replication at the University of Würzburg he joined the Charité in Berlin as a postdoc focusing on cell adhesion, tumor markers and somatostatin-mediated optical tumor imaging. His research group has a key interest in developing peptide-derived GPCR ligands for targeting tumors in the gastrointestinal tract. Supported by a grant from the German ministry of education and research, Carsten recently initiated an applied research program involving aspects of both target validation and ligand optimization as well as preclinical optical imaging. His research group at the Campus Virchow-Klinikum is affiliated with the Gastroenterology Department and the Molecular Cancer Research Center of the Charité.
