Firoz Ahmad,
Research Scientist and Senior Manager-R&D
Currently Dr. Firoz Ahmad is working as the Research Scientist and Senior Manger at SRL Limited, Mumbai since January, 2011 (Till today- 6.5 years). His major contribution is developing and implementing various molecular assays across different molecular platforms. As a research scientist, his role is to design assays on sanger, pyrosequencing as well as Next generation sequencing based assays such as BRCA, hereditary cancer panels as well as whole exome sequencing at SRL. He has undergone various technical training across India on Laboratory quality management system, Next Generation Sequencing technology; Microarray based cytogenetic assays, Pyrosequencing etc. He is also well versed with molecular cytogenetic techniques such as conventional cytogenetic analysis and FISH analysis. He has attended several technical workshops in the field of cancer genetics and presented papers at several national symposiums and conferences. He has been awarded with prestigious Dr J.C. Patel award, Biotech Industrial Training program award, and National level scholarship. He is also an active member of Mumbai Hematology Group, Association for Molecular Pathology, USA and Molecular Pathology Association of India, Mumbai. On academic front, he is a recognized PG guide from Mumbai University and actively involved in designing research projects for PhDs and masters student. He has published 25 research papers in peer reviewed international Journals.
