Umaporn Uawisetwathana's Biography

Umaporn Uawisetwathana, Student

Umaporn Uawisetwathana is an assistant researcher at National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), Thailand and is currently a PhD student at Institute for Global Food Security (IGFS), Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), UK. With collaborative between BIOTEC, Thailand and QUB, UK, she has received a PhD scholarship to study her research topic on metabolomics analysis of the important rice traits, namely brown planthopper (BPH)-resistant traits. She spent various kinds of analytical methods such as NMR and UPLC-QToF-MS- based untargeted analysis and GC-MS-based targeted analysis as well as data analysis to discover the rice metabolome changes in response to BPH infestation and to identify the interesting metabolites. From her experiences, she will further apply this knowledge to establish the metabolomics research in Thailand.
