Dr Katherine Roper is part of Professor Ross King's machine intelligence group at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, specialising in automation, assay development and drug screening. While working at the Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine, and in assocation with the University of Leeds BioScreening Technology Group and Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology group, Cure Parkinson’s Trust and Parkinson’s UK, Katherine has automated and implemented a novel drug screening methodology for Parkinson's Disease. Prior to that Katherine worked on assay development with Dr Dawn Coverley at the University of York, patenting a cell-free method for detecting DNA damage-induced changes in DNA synthesis.
