Dr Michael A. D’silva obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Cologne, Germany. During his doctorate, he worked upon characterization of E6AP, an ubiquitin E3 ligase. E6AP is mechanistically involved in targeting the tumor suppressor protein p53 for ubiquitin-mediated degradation in ‘high risk’ HPV-positive cervical cancer patients.
Subsequently, he worked as a Scientist at ReaMetrix India Pvt Ltd (acquired by Beckman Coulter in 2013), a company that specialized in development and manufacture of dried reagents for flow cytometry based platforms. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the manufacturing team and also contributed to the clinical validation of in-house developed diagnostic reagents for submission for US-FDA 510(k) clearance and CE certification.
In his current role as Principal Investigator at the Biocon Bristol Myers Squibb Research Center (BBRC) within Syngene International Limited, he leads a team of scientists involved in biomarker assay development, “fit for purpose” qualification and clinical biomarker analyses using the flow cytometry technology platform. These qualified biomarker assays have been implemented in several clinical trials to obtain pharmacodynamic (PD) and safety data of the therapy.
