Charles Lai's Biography



Charles Lai, Assistant Research Fellow, Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences

Dr. Lai received his PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 2010, where he focused on the role of gap junctions in brain cancer. He thereafter joined Dr. Xandra Breakefield’s laboratory for his postdoctoral training and Instructor position in the Department of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He served as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University from 2015 to 2017, and is currently an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences in Academia Sinica of Taiwan, similar to the Max Planck Institutes of Germany. His current work focuses on developing methods to enable molecular imaging and application of nanosized extracellular vesicles including exosomes.
