Dr. Wei Zhu is the CEO and Co-founder of Allegro 3D. Dr. Zhu received his PhD and postdoctoral training in the NanoEngineering Department at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where he developed advanced 3D bioprinters and their applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In addition, he received his micro-MBA certificate from the UCSD Rady School of Management. Dr. Zhu has extensive experience in 3D printing, biomaterials, micro/nanofabrication, and tissue engineering with publications in top journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, PNAS, Advanced Materials, Materials Today, ACS Nano, and Biomaterials. His work has been covered by numerous mainstream news media including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Forbes, Fortune, etc. Dr. Zhu provides business and scientific leadership for Allegro 3D. As a principal investigator at Allegro 3D, Dr. Zhu has received three SBIR awards from the NIH and NSF.
