Bioimaging Asia 2016 - Metabolic, Neuro, Cancer & Cardiovascular Venue

Tour of the facilities at the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium

4 October 2016, 17:30

Join us on Tuesday 4 October, 17:30 for a tour of the facilities at The Singapore Bioimaging Consortium, hosted by our Conference Chairman Dr. Sambasivam Sendhil Velan, Head, Metabolic Imaging Group, SBIC, A*STAR, Singapore, SBIC, A*STAR.

The Singapore Bioimaging Consortium (SBIC) serves as a focal point for stimulating, funding, coordinating and reporting on the various aspects of bioimaging activities in Singapore.  The SBIC seeks to identify and consolidate the various bioimaging capabilities across research institutes, universities and hospitals. It aims to foster closer collaboration in bioimaging among researchers and medical practitioners.  To accomplish its various missions and achieve its academic and translational goals, SBIC's intramural programme comprises 9 research groups organized in 3 laboratories, namely:

- the Laboratory of Molecular Imaging (LMI) which includes the Neuro Imaging Group (NIG*), the Translational Molecular Imaging Group (TMIG*), the Metabolic Imaging Group (MIG*), the PET Chemistry Group (PCG*) and the Bio-optical Imaging Group (BOIG*),

- the Laboratory of Metabolic Medicine (LMM) which encompasses the Metabolic Medicine Group, the Fat Metabolism and Stem Cell Group (FMSCG) and the Functional Metabolism Group (FMG) ,

- the Laboratory of Bioimaging Probe Development (LBPD) On the tour you we be able to view SBIC's core technology platforms which include:

• Development of chemical / biological probes (chemistry and radiochemistry labs) • Molecular Physiology and Metabolic phenotyping • In vitro and in vivo cellular imaging • Optical imaging • MR spectroscopy and imaging, C-13 hyperpolarization • Micro CT and Isotopic imaging (nanoSPECT and microPET) • Multimodality image processing and analysis

These enabling technology platforms are used to support SBIC's current core R&D projects on :

1. Selected major public health issues - Nutrition and Dysmetabolism (diabetes, obesity, fat metabolism, fat Imaging, liver cancer) - Cardiovascular Diseases (heart and brain) - Ageing (brain, muscle, fat)

2. Personal care and wellness (skin, fat, muscle)

3. Technological Innovation in life imaging - Development of Smart Probes and Tags for molecular imaging - Development of Novel Imaging Methods and Devices (UHF-MR, RF Coils, SERS, Photo-Acoustics, multimodal multiscale imaging ...)

The complimentary tour is open to all registered event delegates and busses will leave the conference venue for the short drive to the SBIC facilities at 17:30, where groups will be taken on guided tours of the laboratories with SBIC researchers on site to discuss any questions.

Pre-registration is required for all attendees.
