08:15

Donald HuntKeynote Presentation

Innovative Methods and Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation for the Characterization of Proteins and MHC Peptides
Donald Hunt, Professor, University of Virginia, United States of America

New methods and mass spectrometry instrumentation for the characterization of posttranslationally modified proteins and peptides will be presented.

09:15

Creating a Clinical Diagnostic Test from Discovery through Launch with Mass Spectrometry
Daniel Chelsky, Chief Scientific Officer, Caprion Proteomics Inc, Canada

Hundreds of candidate protein biomarkers can be rapidly triaged, using MRM mass spectrometry, without the use of antibodies.  A case study will be presented that led to a commercialized test for benign vs. malignant pulmonary nodules.

10:00

Coffee and Networking in Exhibition Hall

10:45

Quantitative Mass Spectrometry of Peptides and Proteins, A New Era in Clinical Biomarker Detection
Sylvain Lehmann, Professor, University Hospital Montpellier, France

The utility of mass spectrometry for peptides and proteins in clinical chemistry will be discussed, using amyloid peptides, tau protein and apolipoprotein E as examples.

11:30

Biomarker Discovery in Men’s Cancer
Rainer Cramer, Professor, University of Reading :(, United Kingdom

12:15

Lunch & Networking in Exhibition Hall

13:30

Poster Viewing Session

14:15

Breast Cancer Biomarkers From Discovery to Early Validation by Proteomics
Janne Lehtio, Associate Professor, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Proteome analysis revealed retinoic acid receptor as potential prognostic and predictive marker in endocrine resistant breast cancer. Further, in-depth quantitative proteome and proteogenomics analysis of breast cancer sub-types will be presented.

15:00

Intraoperative Identification of Tissues by Rapid Evaporative Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Zoltan Takats, Professor, Imperial College London, United Kingdom

15:45

Coffee and Networking in Exhibition Hall

Steroid Analysis

16:30

Steroid Homeostasis and Clinical Mass Spectrometry; Moving Beyond Concentration
Ruth Andrew, Reader, Edinburgh University, United Kingdom

Conventional MS methods for quantitation of concentrations of steroids will be contrasted with measurement of dynamic turnover of steroids using stable isotope tracers and also steroids within intact tissue using MS imaging.

17:15

Advantage of Steroid Analysis by LC-MS/MS in Laboratory Medicine
Uta Ceglarek, Senior Scientist, University Hospital Leipzig, Germany

Application of LC-MS/MS for steroid analysis combining multi-parametric analysis, high sensitivity and specificity as well simple sample pretreatment, and low running costs and its perspective role in the standardization of steroid measurements in clinical routine application will be discussed.

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring

08:30

Applications of LC-MS/MS to Therapeutic Drug Monitoring: Recent Developments and Future Directions for a Personalized Medicine
Laurent Decosterd, Associate Professor, Universite de Lausanne, Switzerland

The presentation will give various clinical applications of the LC tandem MS technology for the multiplex bioanalysis of several classes of drugs within the frame of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring; opening the way of Personalized Medicine whereby drug dosage is individualized in each patient for maximizing the therapeutic benefit and tolerability of drugs.

09:15

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Linezolid
Michael Vogeser, Professor, University of Munich, Germany

The presentation will address the clinical background and the technological realisation of therapeutic drug monitoring of linezolid in critically ill patients.

10:00

Coffee and Networking in Exhibition Hall

Metabolomics

10:45

LC-High Resolution-MS in Clinical Labs: A Step Forward for TDM and Metabotyping
Bertrand Rochat, Head Quantitative Mass Spectrometry Facility , Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Switzerland

Using high-resolution (HR) full-scan acquisition, actual HR-MS can perform simultaneously qualitative and quantitative analyses that are compatible with routine environment. Actual HR-MS shows comparable selectivity, sensitivity, level accuracy and analytical throughput than triple-quadrupole-MS. Research/routine and quantitative/qualitative analyses using LC-HR-MS will be presented for drug and peptide determinations in patients’ plasma.

11:30

Quantification of Volatile Metabolites in Exhaled Breath and Biological Fluids by SIFT-MS in Support of Clinical Diagnosis
David Smith, Professor, Keele University, United Kingdom

The novel SIFT-MS analytical method and its application to the detection and quantification in exhaled breath of volatile biomarkers of diseases such as cystic fibrosis, bowel disease, diabetes and chronic kidney disease, in support of clinical diagnosis, are described.

12:15

Lunch & Networking in Exhibition Hall

13:15
