POC Blood Coagulation Monitoring Using Paper-Based Lateral Flow Devices
Andrew Steckl, Gieringer Professor, Ohio Eminent Scholar, University Distinguished Research Professor, University of Cincinnati, United States of America

We will discuss the key POC application of paper microfluidics in the monitoring of blood coagulation properties. This is a critical factor for patients undergoing anti-coagulation therapy for cardiovascular disease, requiring frequent monitoring.

15:00

Drug Quantification in Whole Blood within Microstructures for Point-Of-Care Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
Jean-Manuel Segura, Professor, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland Valais, Switzerland

The talk will present our recent results towards the development a point-of-care device for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring. In particular, an assay enabling the quantification of small drugs in whole blood using paper-like microchambers for filtering and measurement will be discussed.

15:30

Silicon Photonics Point-of-care Biosensor Platforms
Peter Bienstman, Professor, Ghent University, Belgium

We present low-cost biosensor platforms in silicon photonics, showing applications in protein and DNA detection, as well as detection of conformational changes of molecules.

16:00

Coffee & Networking in Exhibition Hall

16:30

James LandersKeynote Presentation

A Microfluidic Solution to Rapid, Simple, Bedside Blood Testing
James Landers, Commonwealth Professor, University of Virginia, United States of America

We have designed, built and functionalized fully-integrated DNA analysis chemistry/microfluidics on a rotationally-driven system the size of a compact disc.

17:15

Paper as a High-Tech Material for Printed Point-of-Care Sensors
Firat Guder, Assistant Professor, Imperial College London, United Kingdom

In this presentation, I will talk about our latest work on paper-based sensors and how they enable new classes of low-cost technologies for point-of-care diagnostics.

17:45

Bill Rodriguez, Chief Medical Officer, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), Switzerland

09:30

Jonathan CooperKeynote Presentation

Origami for Paper Based DNA testing of Infectious Diseases
Jonathan Cooper, The Wolfson Chair of Bioengineering, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom

We have recently developed a new platform, enabling us to obtain DNA based information of species, for the diagnosis of a range of infectious microbes, on a “low-cost” paper format using origami-paper folding to manipulate the sample and reagents.

10:30

Coffee & Networking in Exhibition Hall

11:00

Analytical Testing Opportunities to Support Autologous Gene Therapy
Chaminda Salgado, Cell & Gene Therapy Medicinal Process Delivery Leader, GlaxoSmithKline, United Kingdom

The talk walks through the very unique challenges in commercialising autologous ex-vivo gene therapies, a potential new market for POC diagnostic technologies.

11:30

John BrennanKeynote Presentation

Printable Paper-Based Point-of-Care Aptasensors for Biomedical Monitoring
