Multistage Continuous Processing for API

We will discuss how GSK R&D has picked molecules as candidates for continuous processing; we will take a look at what the drivers could be and the hurdles that need to be overcome? We will discuss our work flow and how this drives process understanding and the innovation of new methods. Using project examples, we will discuss applications where continuous processing really adds value and to additionally highlight the reasons why batch processing still has its place for the time being. GSK’s lead flow project is a multistage continuous process to produce a high quality stream of API for an existing product in our manufacturing network. We will look at the drivers for picking this product; whilst reviewing some of the science and engineering choices we made throughout the process development and up to the installation of the factory rig within the GSK manufacturing network.
