Monocytes are a type of white blood cells that play essential role in immune systems. Macrophages are monocytes that migrate into tissues and undergo differentiation. Macrophages carry out an important task in engulfing and digesting foreign substances, pathogen, microbes and cellular debris in a process known as phagocytosis clearing out noxious bodies from the tissue. Monocytes and macrophages release different types of cytokine to regulate and trigger proper immune responses; these responses include defense, inflammation, and tissue remodeling. Cytokines released from monocytes and macrophages are being studied in many types of disease and recently more attentions are paid to the use of cytokine profile as parameter for many diseases diagnosis and prognosis e.g. dengue, TB, and HIV. In field of cancer research, much attention is paid to the possible role of cytokine and autoimmune system as cancer therapy.
Underlie by the important of immune cells and cytokines, we developed a complete solution for immune cell culture and cytokine detection system which allows multiplex and time laps detection of cytokine released from single set of cell population, reducing unnecessary repetitive work and providing more physiological-like data as changes observed from “before” and “after” treatments come from same set of cell population.
