Single Cell Trapping, Monitoring and Retrieving of Functional Nasal Epithelial Cells for Toxicological Studies
Charles Wang Wei, Research Scientist, Singapore Institute Of Manufacturing Technology
To distinguish the vital roles of functional human nasal epithelial cells that respond to the toxicant, it is necessary to separate the functional human nasal epithelial cells (i.e., terminally differentiated) from the non-functional cells, such as undifferentiated and differentiating cells. A microfluidic platform integrated with highly dense microwell array formed by wire mesh for single cell trapping, monitoring & retrieving was developed. Utilizing the microfluidic chip, single cell trapping/monitoring/retrieving of human nasal epithelial cells for toxicological studies was demonstrated.
