Disease-modelling using Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Derived Cells
Dominic Hussey, Senior Account Manager, Cellular Dynamics International Inc
Ever since the ground-breaking discovery of the ability to reprogramme cells into induced pluripotent stem cells, the tantalising prospect of using human cells to model various diseases has been proposed. However this has been somewhat elusive to carry out on a large scale due to difficulties in producing material with a high quality, quantity and purity. Cellular Dynamics International are a company specialising in manufacturing such cells to high enough standards that they can be reproducibly used for such experiments. This presentation will discuss specific case-studies that show haw material generated by CDI has been used in innate, infectious and induced disease-modelling experiments from Cardiac, Neuronal and Hepatic lineages.
