Genomic Determinants of Clinical Behaviour in Solid Tumors– Emerging Challenges for Liquid Biopsies

Liquid biopsies for cancer patients have shown increasing promise for clinical and translational cancer research, enabling monitoring of patients for diagnosis, potential relapse, and the emergence of drug resistance. Besides mutations in DNA, new evidence suggests that other factors in solid tumors may also play pivotal roles in sculpting tumor behaviour. In this talk, I will present our recent work exploring other levels of molecular aberrations associated with tumor behaviour. Developing technologies to monitor these other molecular levels will represent a major frontier for liquid biopsy research in the future.
