Liquid Handling, Automation and Robotics: Godot vs. Andrew
Piero Zucchelli, Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Alliance
Liquid Handling is the most frequent activity for any human biologist. Laboratory Automation is omnipresent in their daily activity, from electronic pipettes to the largest compound management facility. Still, plenty of scientists are unhappy of their routine work and spend an average of two hours per day at the bench - anxiously waiting for the era of Robots. Are they perhaps waiting for Godot, overwhelmed by the ever increasing complexity of biology? Surely the best final weapon is a better self… Some subjective answers to these questions directly from Andrew itself, the first-ever laboratory robot routinely used by robotics-oblivious scientists.
