Potential of Flow Modulation for Advanced Functionality in Lab-on-a-Chip systems
Masahiro Motosuke, Associate professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tokyo University of Science
In advanced Lab-on-a-Chip systems, microfluidic handling is a key to secure high functionality of chemical analysis, biomedical assay and diagnostics of biological samples. In this talk, the presenter mentions recent activities in his research group about the microfluidic flow modulation by external field, i.e., electric, thermal and optical ones, for flexible liquid, particle/cell and droplet handling. The talk also includes the development of novel measurement techniques for three-dimensional flow and temperature imaging to explore the performance in Lab-in-a-Chip systems.
