In vitro Cell Culture Image Analysis
Shahab Uddin, Technology Manager, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms
Advances in optical imaging, bioprocess and culture methods have transformed both basic and advanced biomedical research. The aim of today’s talk is to provide an overview of available image analysis methods (software packages and toolkits) for live cell imaging which involves preprocessing image segmentation, cell tracking and data visualization and presentation. Analysis of the complex and dynamic process requires a capacity to quantitate multiparametric data obtained from labeling or fluorescent reporters in conjunction with morphology. Modern methods of quantification include but are not limited to fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry and imaging flow cytometry.
Here we describe the current status and future perspectives of this emerging field, as well as some challenges and limitations.
