Urine Biomarker Discovery Studies for Various Diseases
Youhe Gao, Professor, Beijing Normal University
Recently we have finished a lot of urine biomarker discovery studies for various diseases, including lung fibrosis, liver fibrosis, diabetes, chornic pancreatitis, chronic obstractive pulmonary disease, bacteria meningitis, subcutaneous cancer, astrocytoma. The results are better than my most optimistic expectations. Some of the results are published, some are still in preprint stage. Urine is a gold mine, as I suggested a couple of years ago in your meeting at Bangalore. Urine will change the biomarker field and probably push medicine to an earlier stage. We found if medication can be given at an earlier stage when we can use the clues from urine, lung fibrosis can be stopped at the early stage.
