Where are we at with RNAi Screening?

There has been a growing skepticism surrounding RNAi data and the validity of hits arising from large-scale RNAi screens. Much of this comes from a lack of agreement between screens conducted in similar biological systems and difficulty in validating published screen hits. Moreover, with the dawning of new screening technologies, it is natural to gravitate towards the new and abandon the old. However, much is understood about the pitfalls of RNAi screening, and when applied with these in mind, the technology delivers. This presentation will discuss many of the pitfalls and how they should shape screening and validation strategies, as well as highlight leveraging other technologies to further refine results.
