mRNA Detection in Extracellular Vesicles

The landmark discovery that glioblastoma, the most common form of primary brain neoplasm, secrete extracellular vesicles (EVs) containing genetic material that mirror the cell of origin has opened a new avenue for biomarker development. The talk will focus on the detection of glioblastoma specific mutations through the analysis of RNAs isolated from sera/cerebrospinal fluid EVs of glioblastoma patients. Implications pertaining to diagnostic development as well as pending challenges in clinical translation will be discussed.
