Abstract

Cutting-edge Use of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem Cell Injections for Treatment of Musculoskeletal Conditions in an Office Setting

Joseph Purita, Medical Director, Institute Of Regenerative and Molecular Orthopedics

The presentation concerns the cutting edge use of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem cell injections for treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in an office setting.  We have now expanded our horizons to also include the use of very small embryonic like stem cells (V cells) for both musculoskeletal and anti-aging purposes.  These cells secrete telomerase and are considered to be SAFE pluripotent autogenous stem cells which is one of the holy grails of stem cell therapy.  These cells may be a game changer for both anti-aging and regenerative medicine.   At one time these cells were thought to be nonexistent.  We now know they do exist, have tremendous potential and are not that difficult to obtain and activate. They are found in various tissues of the body including the plasma.  They may be considered the body's emergency stem cell supply.  The trick is to activate these cells since they typically lay quiescent.  Furthermore, they are implicated as one of the main reasons as to why acupuncture works.  It is felt that properly administered Acupuncture will stimulate these cells which are found among other areas in the Bonghan channels associated with Acupuncture.  The V cells are just one aspect of the discussion.  We wish to take the discussion to the next level by discussing the cutting edge of the cutting edge as it pertains to regenerative PRP and Stem Cell therapy.  Our clinic has made extensive use of Platelet Rich Plasma, Bone Marrow Stem Cells (BMAC) and Adipose Stem Cells (SVF) and fat grafts.  This is all done within FDA guidelines.   We now wish to share with the Regenerative Physician the tricks, pitfalls, and new techniques of using these therapies.  Misconceptions concerning stem cells are dispelled.  One myth is that mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) is the main regenerative cell.  This was the initial interpretation of Dr.  Arnold Caplan the father of mesenc
