Deep Sequencing to Rebuild Tumor Evolution

Deep sequencing provides a digital count of DNA segments that mutate during cancer progression. We used this feature to rebuild the evolutionary tree of single tumors starting from the collection of somatic mutations acquired during the clone formation. In this talk I will illustrate the theoretical background, the technical issues and the scientific results that we obtained on a collection of colorectal cancer samples.
