Abstract

Electrochemically Synthesized & Exfoliated MoS2 for robust Covalent Conjugation with Reduced Anti- PSA Antibodies

Manil Kukkar, Research Scholar, CSIR-CSIO

Graphene and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) have received the most attention because of their unique physical, chemical, and electrical properties. MoS2 is a layered transition-metal sulfide with a structure analogous to graphene. The molecular structure of MoS2 is composed of three atom layers (S-Mo-S) stacked together through van der Waals interactions. MoS2 nanostructures are particularly advantageous due to their tunable band gap. As such, the semiconductor materials have a small but nonzero band gap. Thus, they can be controllably switched between conductive and insulated states. A larger band gap affords a better ability to switch states, which is important to insulate any current leakage during the switch off state of the device. We report an efficient method for the synthesis of few-layered MoS2 nanosheets and demonstrate their application in the label-free detection of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) cancer marker.
