10:30

Alka BeotraKeynote Presentation

Role of Mass Spectrometry in Drug of Abuse Analysis: Human to Equine Dope Testing
Alka Beotra, Scientific Director & PT Coordinator, National Dope Testing Laboratory, India

The presentation would cover the development in the mass spectrometry use since the beginning of sports testing (1967) following separation by either gas or liquid chromatography. It will also discuss about the identification of various prohibited drugs with the use of mass spectrometry coupled with LC or GC. Further, it will mention about the application of isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) detector coupled with GC in dope testing.

11:15

Keynote: Studying Environmental Contamination in Soil and Water and its Impact on Society
Utpal Tatu, Professor, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, India

Session 2: Clinical Mass Spectrometry

12:00

Investigation of the Mechanism of Binding of Anticancer Drugs to DNA using ESI-MS
David Harman, Lecturer and Mass Spectrometry Facility Manager , University of Western Sydney, Australia

This presentation will provide insights into the binding mechanism of organometallic platinum based drugs within cancer cell DNA. It will also discuss the measurement of degree of binding by ESI-QToF-MS that helps in further designing of the next generation of anticancer therapeutics.
