Dr. Nahnsen studied Biomathematics and Biotechnology at the Universities of Greifswald (Germany), Strasbourg (France) and Cambridge (UK), where he early on specialized on large-scale, OMICS-based biomedical research. During his PhD studies and a short PostDoc position at the Center for Bioinformatics at Tübingen University he became a bioinformatics software developer, mainly for mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics data. Since 2012 he is the leader of the Quantitative Biology Center, an interdisciplinary core unit and infrastructure for the coordination and management of large-scale quantitative biology projects and bioinformatics core facility. One of the major challenges at QBiC is the data management and analysis of NGS data and their integration with other OMICS technologies and data sets.

This talk
will present the latest developments towards the integrative analysis of
large and complex NGS-based data. Further, it will discuss its Integrated
Technology which includes Liferay as a portlet container and gUSE/WS-PGRADE
as a workflow engine and finally on openBIS for data management application.
