Dr. Mukul Das is a Chief Scientist & Area Coordinator of Food, Drugs and Chemical Toxicology Division at CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow. He did his B.Sc. in 1976 from Lucknow Christian College and M Sc in Biochemistry during 1978 from Lucknow University. Subsequently he joined Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow as CSIR Merit Research fellow for his Ph.D degree. From 1982-1986 he worked as Post Doctoral Fellow at Wayne State University, Detroit; and Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA. He has widely travelled the globe including Finland, Denmark, England, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Canada and USA, for international scientific interactions and attending conferences. During November 1986, he joined Indian Institute of Toxicology Research as Scientist C and since then he has been working in an important area of Food Additives, Contaminants and Adulterants. He has published more than 273 research papers and supervised 25 Ph.D students. He is an author of a book and has 3 national and one international patent to his credit. His work has been cited more than 4900 times with an H-index of 35. He is a member of national food regulatory bodies and several scientific societies. Dr Das was the President of Indian Nanoscience Society (2009 -2014) and WHO Temporary Advisor for Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives, Geneva, Switzerland. Several awards have been conferred upon him, to name a few are Burroughs Welcome Fund Award, USA (1985), Schering-Plough Award from Dermatology Foundation, USA (1986), International Union of Biochemistry Award, Czechoslovakia (1988), Fellow of Society of Toxicology, India (1998), Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2007), Fellow of National Academy of Sciences (2010).
