Geo Velikkakam James, Research Scientist, Rijk Zwaan Breeding

Dr. Geo Velikkakam James has received his Ph.D. from Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research, Cologne, Germany where he was part of Arabis Alpina genome sequencing consortium (TRANSNET). During his PhD he developed methods like Pop-seq simulator and SHOREmap Backcross, which utilizes the power of Next Generation Sequencing for mutant identification. His key interest lies on application and development of new genomics methods for plant breeding. He worked at KeyGene N.V. and MAHYCO Seeds Ltd. as Research associate, where he was the youngest researcher. He obtained his Master in Bioinformatics from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. He has received many awards in this young age which includes Anne van den Ban Fund (ABF) and International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) fellowship. Currently, he is working as a research scientist at Rijk Zwaan Breeding B. V., The Netherlands.
