Panchanan Pramanik's Biography

Panchanan Pramanik, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

Prof Pramanik completed graduation in Chemistry (honours) from University of Calcutta. He joined Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur for Master degree in Chemistry and received gold medal in final examination. He completed doctor of philosophy from the same institute in the year 1977 and was offered to join as a faculty member of department of chemistry. He is full Professor since 1993.He worked in various fields of material science like thin-film, organic photoconductor, Electronic polymer, advanced ceramic, high Tc super conductor, electronic ceramic, nano-materials. He is one of the leading scientist of India in nano-materials. He has produced 30 Ph.D students and about 70 M.S students from his laboratory. He has published about 230 research papers in various reputed international journals. He posses 12 patent rights ,out of which three sold to Indian Industries. He is member of various national scientific committees . He visited Europe several times as invited guest scientist .
He is adviser of many industries of India. He is one of a few who have received both medal from Chemical Research Society of India and Material Research Society of India. He was a member of editorial board of Journal of nano-science and nano-technology (USA). He is one of the authors of encyclopedia on nano-science and nano-technology published from USA. He is reviewer of many international journals.
