Latha Sabikhi's Biography



Latha Sabikhi, Head/Principal Scientist, National Dairy Research Institute

Dr Latha Sabikhi is the Head of the Dairy Technology Division at National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. Woth over 35 years of experience as a Dairy Technologist, she specializes in the area of functional and probiotic dairy foods. She is currently working on increasing the health-enhancing attributes and nutritive value of dairy foods by application of functional ingredients and non-dairy food groups, besides exploring the potential of dairy ingredients as processing aids. She has received advanced training in her field in Italy and the United States. She was conferred the International Professional Women Opportunity Award by the Italian Scientific Consortium CoRFiLaC. Dr Sabikhi is a Fellow of the National Academy of Dairy Science (India). She has several publications in national and international journals and has written books, book chapters and practical manuals. Besides teaching and mentoring students of Dairy Technology, Dr Sabikhi is also a resource person for training prospective entrepreneurs in the field of dairy processing.
