Alka Beotra, Scientific Director & PT Coordinator, National Dope Testing Laboratory

Dr. Alka Beotra is Scientific Director, National Dope Testing Laboratory, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), Government of India, New Delhi, which is the only laboratory in the country responsible for testing of human and horse urine and blood samples for the drugs of abuse. She is Executive Board Member of World Association of Anti Doping Scientists (WAADS) for a period of 2015-2018. She is Vice President, Indian Association of Sports Medicine & Member, Doping Commission, Asian Federation of Sports Medicine. She is Lead Assessor & Technical Assessor for ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation in the field of Chemical, Biological & Forensic testing and ISO 17043:2010 (Proficiency Testing Providers) and ISO Guide 34 (Reference Material Producers).
She has 34 years of experience after acquiring Ph.D. from Deptt of Pharmacology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in 1981. Recipient of Gold medal (1981) & Silver medal (1982) of Indian Pharmacological Society for her research work in the field of drugs. Contributed as Technical Expert for the London Olympics 2012 testing. Published over 115 research publications in the field of drug testing, therapeutic drug monitoring and psychopharmacology. Guiding Ph.D. thesis(Biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry and pharmacology) from various universities. Has conducted many workshops/ symposiums in the field of Anti Doping for doctors /scientists in India and other Asian countries. Reviewer for various analytical/ bio-analytical journals of repute. Member convener of various committees under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports viz Expert Group on Sports Sciences, NADA IEC Expert Group on Education Campaign. Member Subject Review Committee of National Formulary of India, Indian Pharmacopeia Commission.
