Jayanti Mania-Pramanik, Scientist 'F', Infectious Diseases Biology, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health (NIRRH)

Dr Jayanti Mania-Pramanik, Ph.D. from Utkal University in Zoology, M.Sc. from Banaras Hindu University. Her interest is in the development of immunodiagnostic for diagnosis of RTIs/STIs and to study the pathogenesis associated with those infections. She has developed PCR for both Chlamydia trachomatis infection, a major cause of infertility and HPV infection, a cause of cervical cancer, ready for commercialization. She has filed 3 patents in this area of research. Her current research programs aim to reveal the various host immunogenetic factors that are associated with different type of clinical manifestations following infections, such as HPV infection with cervical cancer, Chlamydia infection with respect to infertility, recurrent spontaneous abortion, and ectopic pregnancy; as well as study on HIV infection with respect to Discordant couples and Mother to Child HIV transmission. She has been awarded with financial support from WHO, WHO-CONRAD, ICMR, DBT,DST, ICRW,NACO to carry out these research studies. She is a recognized guide of Mumbai University for PhD degree in Life Sciences. She has 50 publications to her credit in this field of research.
