A Pratap Kumar's Biography

A Pratap Kumar, Professor, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

Dr Kumar obtained his PhD in Life Sciences from the Central University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India. Following his post-doctoral training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr Kumar started his career as Assistant Professor at AMC Cancer Research Center, Denver, CO. Subsequently he joined Department of Urology as a tenured Associate Professor at The University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA), TX. Currently he is a tenured Professor of Urology with appointments in the Departments of Molecular Medicine and Pharmacology. Dr. Kumar is a co-leader of the Population Science and Prevention program of the NCI designated Cancer Center at UTHSA and holds an endowed CTRC 40th anniversary chair in Cancer Research at UTHSA. His research efforts are focused on identification of deregulated molecular mechanisms involved in development, progression and dissemination of cancer to develop chemoprevention/intervention strategies by targeting the identified mechanisms for clinical translation. In addition, Dr Kumar’s is actively involved in training and mentoring next generation of cancer researchers.
