Martin Daffertshofer's Biography



Martin Daffertshofer, Director Strategic Marketing Imaging Informatics, Perkin Elmer Cellular Technologies GmbH

Martin started his career at Evotec BioSystems GmbH in 1995 where he established the Cooperate IT and Software Development Departments. At Evotec OAI AG he has been heading the Research Information Technology Department as well as the Microsystems Technology Group. In 2001 he became Vice President Drug Discovery Technologies. From 2005 until 2006 he was responsible for Biology Applications and Software Development at Evotec Technologies GmbH.
At Perkin Elmer Cellular Technologies he was in charge for the software development until he became Global Product Manager for Software. 2012 he became Portfolio Director Scientific Imaging Software, a position he held until April 2013 before he took on the role of GM for Informatics responsible for EMEA, India and Russia. Since January 2015 he has taken on the role of Director Strategic Marketing Imaging Informatics.

Prior to his activities at life science industry he studied physics at the University of Düsseldorf and received his doctorate from the Department of Experimental Physics at the University of Stuttgart for Laser spectroscopic studies in organic thin films.

With new instruments such as Opera Phenix High Content Imaging is rapidly moving towards a new area of phenotypic screening. Besides HCS multiple other imaging modalities (i.e. Quantitative Pathology and In Vivo Imaging) starts to become core technologies in drug discovery. We will discuss how cloud based high performance computing and storage provided by Perkin Elmer’s Signals supports multiple aspects such as image management and analysis and high content data profiling.
