Laurent Decosterd obtained his PhD in 1990 with an emphasis in chromatography and bioactive natural products structure elucidation. He completed postdoctoral studies at the National Cancer Institute (NIH) at Frederick (MD) USA in the field of anti-HIV and anticancer drugs discovery research and development. He is currently Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne, and the Head of the Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology at the Lausanne University Hospital (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, CHUV), which provides Analytical Service for the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) notably for anti-infective and targeted anticancer agents. His current research aims at developing and applying methods by liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry for the multiplex analysis of drugs from various therapeutic classes, for a better and more secure use of drugs in patients.
