Dana Gabuzda's Biography

Dana Gabuzda, Professor of Neurology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School

Dana Gabuzda, M.D., is Professor of Neurology (Microbiology and Immunobiology) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. She did her M.D. and neurology residency at Harvard and postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins and Dana-Farber. Her lab has studied HIV and associated comorbidities for over 20 years, contributing to understanding of pathogenic mechanisms underlying immune activation, metabolic dysfunction, accelerated aging, and cognitive decline. Her lab uses metabolomics, proteomics, and other systems approaches to identify novel biomarkers related to immune dysfunction, stress responses, and specific comorbidities. She has received awards including Howard Temin Award for Basic Science, Elizabeth Glaser Scientist Award from the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Avant-Garde DP1 award for HIV/AIDS Research from NIH/NIDA, and Women in Neuroscience Lectureship Award from the International Society for Neurovirology.
