Mike Francke,

Mike Francke was born in 1965 Rostock, Germany. He studied Biology in Leipzig with the focus on animal physiology, neurophysiology, biochemistry and immunology. Since 1993 he worked in the research fields of cellular neuroscience, retina and vision research and retina pathologies. He participated in two DFG-funded excellent education graduate schools. In 2008 he went to Cambridge University (UK) at the Cavendish Institute and continued the interdisciplinary research on biomechanics and optics of retinal tissue and stem cells. Since 2010, he is an independent group leader at the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University Leipzig.
