Petar Podlesniy's Biography

Petar Podlesniy, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Consejo Superior De Investigaciones Científicas

Petar Podlesniy received his PhD from University of Lleida (Spain) where he studied the implication of neurothrophic factors signaling in Alzheimer´s disease (AD). He is currently post-doctoral researcher in CiberNed /IIBB (Spain) involved in a project studding the circulating cell-free mitochondrial DNA in cerebrospinal fluid as very early biomarker of AD and its implication in pathogenesis of the disease. The group he is working is an early adaptor of the ddPCR technology in the quantification of the low levels of circulating mtDNA. He is also involved in developing of high-resolution liquid proteomics platform aimed on detecting early proteome changes in AD.

I will share our experience in the implementation of ddPCR for quantitation of low abundance targets (in the range of hundredths molecules per sample) as the circulating nucleic acids in biological fluids. Special emphasis will be made on the sample preparation and the controls used.
