John Burnett, Assistant Research Professor, Beckman Research Institute City of Hope

John Burnett, Ph.D., earned his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Prof. John Rossi at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where he now serves as an Assistant Research Professor in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

RNA-based therapeutics include aptamers, ribozymes, small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and small activating RNAs (saRNAs). I will discuss our progress in developing these as therapeutic agents for cancer and HIV.  Our work utilizes a variety of advanced technologies, including single-molecule RNA FISH, droplet digital PCR, and Solexa deep sequencing.
