SELECTBIO Conferences Advances in NGS - Virtual Event

Sven Nahnsen's Biography

Sven Nahnsen, Head, University of Tuebingen

Dr. Nahnsen studied Biomathematics and Biotechnology at the Universities of Greifswald (Germany), Strasbourg (France) and Cambridge (UK), where he early on specialized on large-scale, OMICS-based biomedical research. During his PhD studies and a short PostDoc position at the Center for Bioinformatics at Tübingen University he became a bioinformatics software developer, mainly for mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics data. Since 2012 he is the leader of the Quantitative Biology Center, an interdisciplinary core unit and infrastructure for the coordination and management of large-scale quantitative biology projects and bioinformatics core facility. One of the major challenges at QBiC is the data management and analysis of NGS data and their integration with other OMICS technologies and data sets.

I will present recent developments and novel methods to overcome the demanding tasks for data and project management in NGS projects. Furthermore my talk will present production-scale implementations of bioinformatics workflows for (gen)omics data processing and analysis. Finally, I will present our solution towards a an digital, collaborative research environment allowing the integration of infrastructure, bioinformatics tools and (meta)data.
