Andreas Richter's Biography

Andreas Richter, Professor, Technische Universitat Dresden

Andreas Richter received both of his degrees (Dipl.-Ing., 1996, and Dr.-Ing., 2002) in electrical engineering from the Technische Universität Dresden. Following postdoctoral studies in physical chemistry of polymers he received a fellowship of the Heisenberg program of the German Research Foundation (2007) and later the Heisenberg Chair of Polymeric Microsystems (2010). Richter’s research is focused on fundamental aspects of scalable More-than-Moore and beyond CMOS approaches based on active organic and polymeric materials. Working at the interface of material science, microtechnology, biology and computer science current interests include optical and photonic systems, sensor systems, large-scale integrated labs on a chip, methods of point of care diagnostics, as well as the utilization of chemicals as carrier of information processed by integrated circuits. Since 2012 he leads the research area “chemical information processing” of the cluster of excellence “Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden” and coordinates several European and national joint research projects.
