Wai Yee Yeong's Biography

Wai Yee Yeong, Programme Director and Associate Professor, Nanyang Technological University

Active in 3D printing research since 2004, Associate Professor Wai Yee Yeong at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has created multiple frontiers in 3D printing, taking the leads in 3D Bioprinting, electronics printing and metal printing research. She has been awarded with research grant in the order of >$10 million. Her portfolio includes serving as Programme Director (Aerospace and Defence) at Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP), Program Director (3D Printing) at NTU-HP Digital Manufacturing Lab and Co-director of NTU Institute for Health Technologies.

The bioprinting landscape is expanding and growing with exciting new advances. Different bioprinting methods have been proposed to achieve functional and biological applications from the assembly of bioactive elements. In this talk, we will focus on 3D bioprinting of soft tissues with the focus on the key functional aspects of using 3D bioprinting. Beyond just creating the shapes, 3D bioprinting process is an innovative tool for aligning cells and recreating biomimetic design of soft tissues.
