Shirish Sonawane's Biography



Shirish Sonawane, Associate Professor , National Institute of Technology Warangal

Dr Shirish Sonawane is currently working as Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering Department National Institute of Technology Warangal AP India. His research Interest focused on synthesis of hybrid nanomaterials, cavitation based inorganic particle synthesis, Sonochemical synthesis of nanolatex. Process Intensification, Microreactor for nanoparticles production. Dr Sonawane recipient of fast track young scientist Project in year 2007 from Department of Science and Technology Govt of India. He has industrial experience from reputed chemical industries such as Bayer Polymers (R&D). He also worked in the Chemical Engineering Department and Process Control Laboratory University of Dortmund Germany 2002 on the project of emulsion polymerization process control modeling. Dr Sonawane has published more than 80 research papers in reputed Journals, 10 book chapters, 9 Indian patents Applications. He was a recipient of prestigious BOYSCAST Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology Govt of India in Year 2009. He is visiting academic and worked in Particle Fluid Processing Center, University of Melbourne. He is also Heritage Fellow and worked in Chemical engineering deparment, Instito Superio Technico Lisbon Portugal 2013,2015. He is elected young Associate Fellow from Maharahstra Acadamy of Science. Completed 6 consultancies from chemical industries and 4 research projects from Govt. Currently ISRO and Ministry of Environment and Forest Project is going on. 8 M.Tech,3 Ph.D awarded, currently 8 Ph.D and 2 M Tech students are working with him. He is reviewer of several international journals notably chemical engineering science, industrial engineering chemistry research, chemical engineering journal, material science, chemical engineering processing and Process Intensification. He has good liaison with industries such as Corning India, Calchem,roha carbonates, Felix Industries etc and made with some industries. Recently Corning has donated 30000 Euro (approximately 20 Lacs Rs) reactor to Dr Sonawane laboratory for working with pharmaceutical and chemical industries in the area of process intensification. Dr Sonawane received the grant of 80 Lacs Rs for the Minicenter of Excellence in Sonoprocess Engineering for Nanoparticles in 2013 from the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD).
