Prof. Mathias Freund was born in 1949 in northern Germany. He has obtained his physician's license, doctorate and license as a specialist of Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology at the Eberhardt-Karls University in Tübingen. Prof. Freund has worked at the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Hannover Medical School and has been the chairman of the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Rostock University from 1994 to 2012He is member of the board of the Seracell Stammzelltechnologie GmbH and the Seracell Pharma AG and is currently the president of the German Society of Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Prof. Freund’s main scientific interests are focused on leukemias and Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation and regenerative medicine. He has published 324 journal articles, 32 books and 88 book chapters.
