Lorenz Bülow's Biography

Lorenz Bülow, Bioinformatician and Database Manager, Institute for Breeding Research on Agricultural Crops

Lorenz Bülow is a Bioinformatician and Database Manager at the Institute for Breeding Research on Agricultural Crops, Julius Kuehn Institute (JKI) Quedlinburg in Germany. He studied Biotechnology at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany where he also obtained his PhD in Plant Genetics. After three years of Postdoc at MPB Cologne in Germany, he was appointed to build up and lead the bioinformatics group at the Institute of Genetics, Technical University of Braunschweig. He developed the plant databases PathoPlant and AthaMap that focus on plant genomics and transcriptomics, gene expression regulation, and biotic and abiotic plant stresses. Recently, he switched to the Institute for Breeding Research on Agricultural Crops, JKI, and his current major interests are information systems, plant genetic resources, plant databases and bioinformatics.
