Alexei Lapkin's Biography



Alexei Lapkin, Professor, University of Cambridge

Alexei Lapkin studied chemistry at Novosibirsk State University. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Bath under supervision of Prof. John (W.) Thomas. He has held faculty positions at Universities of Bath and Warwick before being appointed to his current post of Professor of Sustainable Reaction Engineering at Cambridge in 2013. His group is working on different aspects of design of 'reaction environment' that would lead to cleaner processes.

The talk will focus on development of supports and new catalysts that can be used as true heterogeneous catalysts in a variety of reactions of broad synthetic utility. Problems of catalyst leaching, reactor blockages, etc, will be addressed and various engineering solutions, including reactor design, discussed.
