Joy Hu was nominated and selected as a research intern at the Taiwan National Science Council in college.
She receives her Master's degree in Basic Medicine from the Kaohsiung Medical University in 2010. Working in research at the Baylor College of Medicine and the Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas, USA in her early 20s, she focused on tumor angiogenesis and gastrointestinal development. Hu is currently a Tech Specialist at the BioTek Instruments Taiwan. She provides on-site training for BioTek's Cytation 3 cell imaging reader and applies scientific and technical assistance.
