Dileep Mampallil Augustine, Post Doctoral Research Associate, University of Glasgow

Dr. Dileep Mampallil received his MSc from IIT Madras in Physics. He received his PhD Degree from University of Twente for the research work performed in Physics of Complex Fluids Group in the topic- microfluidics. In the same university, in Nanoionics Group he worked in the field of electrochemistry in nanoscale. Currently, he is a postdoctoral research associate in Division of Biomedical Research in University of Glasgow, UK. He is involved in proteomic studies and developing diagnostic methods employing microfluidic techniques. His research interests involve micro-nanofluidics, electrochemistry and developing microfluidic methods for point-of-care diagnostics.

The coffee ring effect is the formation of ring-like heterogeneous residue when a liquid drop containing dispersed solute particles dries on a solid surface. This ubiquitous phenomenon, enhanced on hydrophilic and rough surfaces, is a nuisance in many applications. The presentation highlights that how this effect can be suppressed.
