Dipankar Ghosh's Biography



Dipankar Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University

Dr. Dipankar Ghosh is a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. His postdoctoral work in the USA, helped identify mechanisms of human innate immunity and homeostasis of gut microbiome. For this work he won the Merlin Bumpus Investigator award in Cleveland, USA. In his career spanning 17 years he has worked in The Cleveland Clinic, USA, The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Avesthagen, Bangalore, India. He is currently faculty of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, India and In-charge of the JNU Mass Spectrometry Core. His current interests include metabolomics of host-pathogen relationships with specific focus on bacterial small MW quorum signaling molecules and human innate immunity. This program involves some of the leading hospitals in India and abroad. He is co-inventor of a proprietary Laser Desoprtion Ionization Mass Spectrometry (LDI-MS) based metabolomics – the first Mass Spectrometry technology made-in-India with an international patent. Dr Ghosh is co-founder of the Proteomics Society of India and plays role in Indian clinical research networks and outreach.
