Takashi Umehara's Biography



Takashi Umehara, Unit Leader, RIKEN Center for Life Science Technologies (CLST)

Takashi Umehara currently leads Epigenetics Drug Discovery Unit at RIKEN Center for Life Science Technologies (CLST), Japan. He was born in 1972 in Tokyo, Japan, and received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Tokyo in 1999. He became research fellow at the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and then became research manager from 2001. He joined Prof. Shigeyuki Yokoyama’s group at RIKEN, Japan, as research scientist from 2003 to 2007, and as senior scientist from 2007 to 2013. He received the young investigator award from the Japanese Society for Epigenetics in 2011. His research interests are biochemistry, structural biology, and synthetic biology on epigenetics.
